Duodecaplets Mother a Fraud
Earlier today I submitted a post on a mother who claimed to be pregnant with twelve babies- six boys and six girls- Make adoption an option. I am thrilled to find that it was a fraud. After the research I did last night I was deeply disturbed by what I found. It's becoming more and more common to become pregnant with multiples then capitalize on that by accepting freebies from several companies and/or landing your own television show.
But what about the health of the babies? Any pregnancy can have it's difficulties but the more babies a mother carries the greater the risk to her and the unborn children. In researching medical problems with multiple births I found these to be the most common issues, due sometimes to prematurity: bleeding on the brain, intestinal problems, developmental delays, learning disabilities, low birth weight, underdeveloped lungs, mental retardation, blindness, deafness, cerebral palsy, and even death.
The babies aren't the only ones at risk. Mothers of multiples have a high- 43%- of developing Postpartum Depression which can be severe if left untreated. Nausea, heartburn, insomnia, fatigue, high blood pressure, gestational diabetes, twin to twin transfusion, pre-term birth, cesarean section, and placenta previa.
Are the risks really worth it? To many, yes it is. But I'll say it again. Make adoption an option.

ReplyDeleteI'm afraid I have to respectfully disagree with you slightly. Pregnant women should never take any herbal suplements without discussing them with their doctors first. There are many that can be a danger to both mom and unborn baby. Plus, they aren't regulated by the FDA and the dosage can vary depending on who you ask or what website you visit.
